What’s on the Trenton City Council agenda for November 5

Posted on November 4, 2026November 5, 2026 by Dayton Report

Written with the help of AI from the Trenton City Council agenda, Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Trenton Square Community Authority

City Attorney Nick Ziepfel will present an ordinance, which is a city law, declaring the Trenton Square Community Authority to be organized as a body politic and corporate. The ordinance would also define the boundary of the Trenton Square new community district, set the number of members on its board of trustees and how they are chosen, and set the surety (bond) required for the trustees. The agenda copy of the ordinance’s title is cut off, so the rest of its provisions are not listed.

$95,842.76 advance to the Magnode TIF Fund

Finance Director Matthew Mesisklis is asking council to authorize moving $95,842.76 from the General Fund to the Magnode TIF Fund for temporary cash flow purposes. A TIF, or tax increment financing, fund is a separate account tied to a development area. The agenda says the money is to be repaid by the end of 2027.

Utility reconnection fees

Council will take a first reading of an ordinance amending Section 1044.01 of the Codified Ordinances, which covers service reconnection fees. The agenda does not say what the new fees would be.

Public works facility design: up to $45,250

Service Director Brad Baker will ask council to authorize the City Manager to sign an agreement with McGill, Smith, Punshon Inc. for architectural and engineering design services for the public works maintenance facility addition. The cost would not exceed $45,250.

Closed-door discussions

City Manager Marcos Nichols has requested an executive session, a private meeting of council, on two topics. One is the purchase of property; the agenda does not say which property. The other is confidential information related to a request for economic development assistance, or to public infrastructure or utility extensions tied to an economic development project. The agenda labels this item "AWS and Townships." Nichols is also scheduled to give project updates.

Routine contracts and personnel

Information Technology Director Lon Green is seeking two purchase agreements with Techkinect. One is for the Dispatch Media Wall buildout, not to exceed $33,998.99. The other is a change order to design, supply and install audio-visual infrastructure in the new municipal building, not to exceed $34,765.00. Together the two come to $68,763.99. With the design contract above, the contract items total up to $114,013.99.

Clerk of Council Stanislav Beresford will ask council to accept the resignation of Kasey Bishop from the planning commission.

How to weigh in

The council work session is Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. The agenda does not list a meeting location or explain how public comment works. It includes a period for council comments and questions and notes that the agenda is subject to change. Residents who want to speak or submit comments should check with the city clerk’s office.
