Dayton Report is a small newsroom that uses software to cover more of the region than a few people could alone. Here’s how that works, plainly.
Software and AI
- Many of our stories, including home sale write-ups, data updates, meeting summaries and event roundups, are written with software and AI, from public records, MLS data, official releases and agency data.
- Automated checks compare a story’s figures with the source data before it’s published; a story that fails a check is held back.
- What’s published is reviewed every day, and an editor approves every correction.
- Articles are credited to “Dayton Report”. We don’t invent reporters or bylines.
Data stories
- Every chart and number names its source and period, and links to the source where possible. Data pages show when they’ll next be updated.
- Home sale figures are based on information from the Dayton REALTORS® MLS. Aggregates use at least ten sales.
- Data pages offer the figures as a download, so anyone can check our work.
Photos
Home photos come from the MLS listing. Other images are our own charts and maps, or are credited to their source.
