Centerville Names Kate Bostdorff Assistant City Manager, Effective Nov. 16

Posted on November 5, 2026November 5, 2026 by Dayton Report

Written with the help of AI from a news release from the City of Centerville.

The City of Centerville has promoted Kate Bostdorff to Assistant City Manager, effective November 16, the city announced on November 5.

Bostdorff will continue as Communications Director and as manager of The Golf Club at Yankee Trace and Benham’s Grove while taking on broader responsibilities in city administration. The city said it will determine her additional responsibilities and departmental oversight as it finalizes its leadership structure.

The promotion follows the departure of Assistant City Manager and Finance Director Tyler Roark, who accepted a position with the Butler County Finance Authority, according to the city. City Manager Michael Norton-Smith became city manager in October, succeeding Wayne Davis, who retired after nearly a decade in the job.

Bostdorff joined Centerville in 2019 and has led its communications, public engagement and branding work. In early 2025 she became the first general manager of the golf club and Benham’s Grove. The city said she oversees a combined annual operating budget of about $6.6 million and supervises nearly 50 full-time equivalent employees.

Before joining the city, Bostdorff was a television journalist at WHIO-TV. She holds an MBA from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, and is a former Fulbright scholar, the city said.

Norton-Smith said Bostdorff has "an ability to lead people, manage complex operations and turn ideas into results." In her new role, she will work with him and the leadership team on priorities in the city’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan.
