About this data
Home purchases are recorded sales of $10,000 or more of houses (one to three family) and condos in the County Auditor’s public parcel and sales records, from 2020. The county’s public sales records leave out buyers’ names, so each purchase’s buyer is read from the parcel’s owner on the Auditor’s current tax roll, counting only purchases with no later sale of the same parcel on record (later resales are left out of the share, which is why the yearly totals are smaller than all sales). A "company" is an owner whose name is a business (LLC, Inc., corporation, partnership and similar); trusts, which are mostly family estate planning, are counted separately, and government and land-bank properties are tax-exempt and not in these records. "Out of state" means the owner’s tax bill is mailed to an address outside Ohio. A company based elsewhere that has its bills sent to a local manager counts as in-state, so this measures where owners receive their tax bills, not where companies are headquartered. Figures are for full calendar years; years with fewer than 100 purchases in an area are not shown.
