About Lutheran churches

Lutheran churches follow the teachings of the 16th-century reformer Martin Luther, and worship usually follows a set liturgy with Holy Communion. The largest U.S. bodies are the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Practices vary from one congregation to another; this is general background, not a description of Salem Lutheran Church.
