Kettering plans to put Shroyer and Storms/Schuyler signals in flash mode before removal

Posted on November 3, 2026November 3, 2026 by Dayton Report

Written with the help of AI from a news release from the City of Kettering.

The City of Kettering said changes to traffic signals along Shroyer and at Storms and Schuyler are expected to begin at the end of November 2026.

According to the city, the signals will first operate in flash mode for 90 days. On Shroyer, the signal will show a flashing yellow, meaning traffic does not have to stop. At Storms and Schuyler, the signal will show a flashing red and work like a stop sign.

After the 90-day period, the city said the signals will be turned off and covered for 60 days. Permanent stop signs will be installed on the cross streets to reinforce the flashing red signals and to be in place when the signals are turned off.

The city said the Ohio Department of Transportation requires the 150-day analysis period to evaluate the impact of a traffic signal removal project.

Residents with questions can contact the City of Kettering at (937) 296-2400, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
